Congratulations to Denzel on this award. In my opinion, he should have also won hands down for his brilliant portrayal of Malcom X. His performance and commitment to the character actually made me forget I was watching a movie and think that I was looking at Malcom X himself! Denzel Washington is without a doubt one of the finest actors of this generation if not one of the finest of all times. And yes, every now and then I'll still pop in the DVD, "Mo Betta Blues" one of my all time favorites!!!

Tavis was playing the race card at all. He was dealing with an perceived impression (whether correct or not) that needed to be addressed. Because Denzel was oblivous to it, does not mean it was any less legitimate for others. Denzel's reaction, however, probably gave insight and helped others to rethink it. We should be appreciative of that rather than simply using the term "race card" to minimize what for others was a real, though, perhaps, illegitimate, feeling. I'm glad Tavis broached it.

Amazingly, I have even MORE respect for Denzel after viewing this brief video! He definitely has his priorities in order, with a wonderful perspective on his career & life. It's a foregone conclusion that he's one of the most outstanding actors of our generation, as his MANY truly remarkable perfomances will attest to. It's very refreshing to realize that He makes movies to entertain, educate & enlighten, not in a grand search for personal acclaim & recognition. Great Actor, Greater Man!
