Actually, that wouldn't have been the original lineup. I saw them open for ELP in Vancouver in '77 and they had a different singer, with Greg Rolie on keyboards. I'm not even sure if THAT was the original lineup!? In any case... I LOVE this song! What a great voice!!! And the video is clever, too.

I love Steve Martin, but I'm sorry he is the most over-rated comedian of all time. this is his signature bit, and it aint that funny. I know, I know, its blasphemy, but someone had to say it. I consider myself a comedy fan and I love all stuff new and old, as long as its good. I love early Woody Allen stand-up as well as Bill Hicks, Mitch Hedberg and Sam Kinison, and I hate Dane Cook so u can tell I have good taste in comedy, but this King Tut bit is the most over-rated comedy bit ever.

I can remember going to a Steve Martin live performance in 1979 and the King Tut bit was part of his act that night... his entire act that night was Steve at his zaniest best, the entire audience was loving him, and when he did the King Tut bit exactly as in the video (don't know where this was filmed, could have been the one I was at), all the audience was dancing the King Tut dance with him as he did it. Actually he was right, too right in this case. He correctly said that the PC market would move into the professional space, this indeed occurred. The problem is that NeXT could never hit the price targets that would get them the 50% that they were looking for. If they misread anything, it was the price sensitivity of the market (my guess is that they didn't misread it, they were getting a bit desperate). NeXT's biggest problem is that they showed up too late with tech that was too early.

What immediately hits me as I'm watching this, is that it's the first time I see Steve Jobs being so absolutely wrong about something, and arguing with the usual passion and conviction. Was NeXT so hungry that they misinterpreted the data in their favor, to desperately target a seemingly substantial market? Whatever it is, I can't help but be sympathetic to those guys - their workstation was years beyond their competitors and the programming frameworks were a small slice of heaven, for the 90's.
