There's several types of Taekwon-Do. Olympic Style, which is more sporty and more entertaining to watch. Most schools teach it for self-defense. Some take it way back when and get deep into the philosophy of it, and Martial Arts in general. The list goes on. There's no such thing as a correct way of doing Taekwon-Do... aside from the techniques of course.

there is some parrying in it. but most people move too fast in your direction for you to parry every single attack, or at least it makes it hard to, so thats where luck comes in. and it really depends on who the fencers are, as it can range from 2 seconds to easily 30 seconds i guess

Is it just me or do people keep thinking about fencing like video game sword fighting? I just want to say when you fencing isn't a battle it's a duel. Also, it is a sport with rules just like any other and you can't just like in football, baseball, soccer, etc., you go out and start doing whatever or else no one would be able to follow and IT WOULDN'T BE A SPORT!! It's very exciting when you're the person fencing, not watching. You have to think really fast what to do, and need to react pretty fast to each opponent's movement. And this weapon is called "Foil" or "Fleuret", there are 3 different weapons: Foil, Sabre, Epee This is foil, it's about hitting your opponent's body ( chest, upper shoulders, back, stomach) if the blade were too hard it will hurt your opponent.

The valid target area varies from weapon to weapon. In foil it's the torso and crotch...the part covered by the metallic vest (called a lame'). Epee is the entire body, from head to toes. Sabre is everything from the waist up (except for the hands...target stops at the bony part of the wrist)

meters are bigger than yards, so technically they're doing MORE than 100 yards. and plus everytime you push off the wall, you streamline for a few yards which brings you far, and in a 50 meter pool, you get only ONE pushoff vs. a 25 yard pool where you can pushoff THREE times. so you can stfu about that person from your school being faster. if you think i'm just being a douche and that i have no idea what i'm saying, then you're wrong. i've been doing competitive swimming for FOUR years.

there are two big differences between High School and Olympic swimming. 1. 100 Fly in High School is 100 Yards, 100 Fly in the Olympics is 100 Meters. 2. In addition an Olympic size pool is 50M, while a High School pool is 25 yards. So a 100 Fly swimmer in High School gets 3 push offs while a 100 Fly Swimmer in the Olympics only has 1 push off.
