it wouldn't Jet-A type fuel or Jet-B whatever is onboard, the ignition temp has to be at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Avgas however has to be only 60, thats one you have to worry about really.

I'm sure they would wipe it out easyly. In my book there is a (sort of) time travel thing happening, and it would envolve a modern carrier group engaging fleets from the 16th (ish) century. I was wondering how the modern fleet would deal with such a threat. For example I understand in ww2 the bizmark anti air weapons couldn't hit the bi planes (swordfish) because the planes were to slow. Again, sorry if it sounds silly. im not sure it would get picked up, depends on what type of electronics the ship you describe would be running, but you have to understand that the Carrier Strie Group is spread out, and there is helo surveilence 24/7 and flight ops going for almost constantly, so i would say thaat a ship like you describe whether it came up on radar or not would bedead in the water regardless, i have no doubt

i have seen the video in safety stand downs in the Navy many times but im not sure if it was an A-6 or if it was EA6-B, but it did happen and the guy did survive just braking like his pelvis or some shit, dont remember, but to answer your question yes its very possible, that guy was a ABE(aviation boatswains mate-equipment,and he was just coming out from checking the launch bar, making sure it was secured inthe shuttle and checking the holdback and with that jet powered up and him too close SUCK

You will see later in this series a Zuni rocket accidently launched from one parked aircraft striking another. What the series doesn't say is that it was McCain's A-4 that was struck while he was in the cockpit. He had to get out, walk to the nose of his plane, jump off and scramble to safety. He was injured by the first explosion. He and the other pilots that survived were not required to go back to war, but he elected to do so, and was later shot down and imprisoned in N. Viet Nam.

No doubt the Germans had some smart engineers. So did the Americans, but we had a war to win so our focus was on production techniques and new designs of known, producable (sp?) technology. Winning the war was more important than wasting effort on designs that wasted resources and couldn't be maintained in the field. I'd say it worked. And you bet the Germans came to work for us. The end of ww2 Germany was being bombed around the clock, including their airfields and a fighter plane that would not need a runway and be able to get airborne quickly was high on the list to put into production. Why use this old junk engine technology and why use a damn stick between the legs that hinders getting in and out, a yoke would be better! Use a light Gemini 100 Diesel with a turbo! I have seen these Su30s flying at low altitudes and at unbelievably slow speeds.. the aircrafts are pushed to the edge, the angle is any higher/the vehicle is any slower - the aircraft stalls and drops from the air. Great piloting skills can make this thing look like a toy. Indian air force has a few of these incredible machines. The Indian pilots are trained by the Russian air force pilots and engineers from Sukhoi.

I've had this clip for ages. My good buddy Richard West who, along with the other pilot Chris Hansen, died in DH6 MFQ in Papua New Guinea in 2005 sent it to me. Piss myself every time I see this and remember them both as great guys, husbands and dads. Anyway, my point is that you can see the downwash turn over a light coloured leaf or something on the ground to the right of the presenter. First there's one light spot then there are two. An simulations aren't real life they are simulating real life but what if the enemy is is a Sukhoi and what if he gets within visual range and what if he has stealth missles that can be undected even with AWACS and the F22's radar which the russians have been working on as we speak. The dreaded S300 surface to air missles russia has and a couple of other dangerous threats will make the F22 obsolete before it even enters service. like i said in the last post build on a proven platform save money

Pilots of this plane are going to feel like they are invincible going into enemy territory not knowing that an advance radar system that an see the small golf ball size rcs of the F22 will dectect it an know that is not a bird flying over 400MPH. That was so they could put more money on UAVs. The F-22 isn't a waste of money. Not in their opinion. Plus, it takes very little to maintain the F-22 so maintainance costs are down. Plus it has a 100+/0 kill to death ratio in simulations.

I'm not talking trash i'm talking facts and the fact is the F22 is a big waste of money even the experts say that. Make a better F15 and F18 and F16 give it thrust vector bigger engines to carry a heavier payload and give it better a better weapons system like a stealth missle which is more cost effective. Stealth is so over rated and Congress even now are rethinking it shorting the original order down to 183 now from 300 before. Its a waste of money period but thats my opinion.

Stealth is stupid and you're compromising and putting everything on an airframe in hopes that you're going to fool the enemy into thinking you're not there. Its not going to happen and they've already shot down a stealth aircraft the F117 over Bosnia with old radar equipment that saw the low frequency signal it was giving off. F22 is a big waste of money when you've got proven aircraft well capable with a perfect record. Make it more maneverable and give it bigger engines and better weapons

An one thing the RCS on the F22 is as small as a golf ball right? Well what radar operator is going to be stupid enough to think that that is a small bird going over 400MPH??? Um, ok, talk trash about these planes, you have nothing to do with your life, these are great airplanes and testbeds. Plus the F-22 is very good, you can't make those old airframes stealthy, plus the F-22 can hold a lot more ordanance than the F-15.

the more i watch this video the more angry i get. all those shity upgrades especially the ones they did for the F16 making it all heavy and clunky and non manuervable and they could have at least made an aggressor squadron or something with these jets.
