Optional is the factory installed air conditioning package (6:30-6:45). This is not too green. A typical auto a/c has a larger carbon footprint than its gasoline engine. I will not be purchasing an electric car with a/c. I wonder if my non-a/c electric car comes in green?

Another reason is the battery - pretty toxic. Toyota and others were able to get it on the streets, e.g. in Pryus. Although I don't like the Pryus toooo much Volkswagen sells cars with half the gasoline consumption per mile in Europe. I drove a VW LUPO in Germany - amazing! I understand the gov is concerned about all these issues, but that is no reason to let ZENN at least sell a few ecars for a start and creating some statistics on changes in power demands, battery recycling...

Hey guys, has anybody thought about a powersource for these cars? If ZENN (or somebody else) starts selling these cars, we need more powerplants (how much CO2 would that be?). It is an infrastructural problem. Everybody would come home at peaktime 6 or 7 pm, plug in the car, start cooking, and trun on PC and TV. All that from late afternoon through early morning. We would need a few more powerplants, just for these few hours - nobody needs ther power during the day. That is very expensive power!

I test drove one from the MC Electric Vehicles dealership on South Dearborn Street, Seattle. I was able to reach a top speed of 37 mph on flat ground. It uses a 5 horsepower forklift motor that I would not push much faster. I also felt that the brakes were a bit thin. I am considering doing a PHEV upgrade to a used Prius instead. You have the advantage of a gas engine when you need it.

actually in most major cities, like where I live in NY, the speed limit on most roads doesn't exceed 30. That would put the Zenn's 25 mph safely within that limit. say what you want about it but I for one am looking forward to see how the technology develops.

The Zenn 2.22 will do 35mph/56km here in Washington (and in MT). In other states, the Zenn is limited to only 25 mph by law governing Neighborhood Electric Vehicles. It's a software change - just google for it "Speed Up Your Zenn"

I've driven a Zenn 2.22 here in Washington. It will do 35mph without any problems. The additional motivation is the extremely high gas mileage they get. Electric motors are about 4 times more efficient than internal combustion engines. Also, the equivalent amount of energy to a gallon of gas, 33.5 kWh is cheaper here in Washington.

The speed limit for NEV's has been changed in WA and MT to 35mph, which is compatible with most neighborhood speeds. Urge your state to do the same. Then, you can update the Zenn with a software upgrade.

Ridiculous. 25 miles an hour is not fast enough for city roads. Most roads around here are 40 and the flow goes 40 - 50. You will be impeding traffic even in the city. If you want heat in the winter, or use your wipers in the snow and rain, will you even have enough juice to get home? And once home, you can't leave for hours while the thing recharges. What if you need to?

they said a regulated speed of 25mph just remove the regulator and you can go faster. I'm guessing that they add the speed regulators in so people dont buy Electric cars and assume that all Electric cars are slow.

The people who would buy this car are environmentally concerned. They probably have already made other changes in their life, including working closer to their home so that they don't have to commute on the highway. This is a perfect car for business people who do a lot of city driving.
