My rating is 5 starts, it's very well taught and we can follow the steps very easily. Moreover, the teacher has a lot of patience and he knows how to teach! The box steps were amazing! Look again, couple N8. nad you can not go agains line of dance, even if there space at the moment. This move stuff dance of 2 other couples. Dancer plan in derection of line of dance what they do. Actially this attitude that one can ignore basic fundamental rule become rediculous. Now I see near collusions with only 2 (two!) couples of the flour. If I want to see the show, i go to theater. Here we hace BALLROOM dancing and I want to see it!

Not too difficult. Five amalgamations each starting im a corner. Third one is most complex: we only know the double reverse after fallaway and slip pivot, never done the steps after that, is it called the "hover corte"? There is only a "reverse corte" in the Moore-book.

what personal matters??? i am saying that pete was saying that he will be out of business if he strictly teach a single step/technique in a group class. i stand corrected about that statement "do not thing anyone ...", what i really mean is that you can't really learn it well from a book. as for whether i am native Canadian, why is it important to this conversation? i use imo because i never really competed and my knowledge was from taking technique class when these great dancers was in town

My instructor knew Pete pretty well. I think they were friends as well as student/coach. But that was before my time. My instructor succeeded Pete in teaching at the provincal university dance club. Pete taught a complete routine in one class but he also break the routine down so that the students can absorbe the finer details of each steps in each succeeding class. I think that's what he was driving at.

May I ask whether this is a group class or private?? If that is private, that will be inappropriate but if it is group then what he did was what the class want. Most dancer think that they had mastered all the basics already and don't want to learn any more techniques. A lot of people think that technique is boring. If the students think the class is boring then they won't come back. Hence, Pete couldn't make a living. And he was within his rights to teach a complete routine in one class.

My teacher NEVER taught for a living. She did this for a hobby and to pass on her knowledge to the next gen of local dancers. She knew Pete and took lessons with him a long time ago. Pete only taught you one step because you probably because it was a complicated step and in order to do it WELL, you need a full lesson. Do you want to be known as a dancer who dance a million steps or a dancer who dance a few steps well? I rather be later.

Yeah, but you DON'T need the top level dancers to teach you. These top level dancers may NOT be very good teachers. And these "second-rated" teachers really that 2nd rated? Are you trying to be dancing at the final of Blackpool? If you want to be just a good dancer, these 2nd rate teachers will do. I was fortunate enough to have a excellent teacher who never was in the final @ BP. But she is an excellent teacher and she bought up a few good dancers.

He's performing in Australia, actually just finished playing to an audience of 36,000 people at Telstra stadium, this was the third show in Melbourne, 6 more to go in other states all sold out plus pay for view cable, that's super megastar status, pity he omitted this one musical wonder, The Second Waltz, probably the finest heart felt waltz of all, he should include it in Oz also, introduce the audience to this wonder.

Classical concerts or operas might often be too solemn and stiff and you don't have to be fond of it, bytomgirl. What Mr. Rieu does is though just appaling, has nothing to do with the spirit of the whole matter: he is a wedding musician, not a master. To forget life's troubles, you should try a glass of red wine, is much more authentic and is good for you. By the way, who told you life is trouble-free? Did you really believe it? This ain't no Hollywood film, life must be hard to live.

I really like this interpretation. It is played at a good and controlled tempo. The left hand of the waltz is light but not choppy and doesn't blurr with the pedal. The same can be said about the right hand, very clean and crisp notes. The chromatic scales have a very nice dimuendo touch to them. The middle section is played sweetly and softly which I prefer over some interpretations where the middle section is played somewhat loudly and harshly. I think I said enough. lol.

People pay about $3 and stay all afternoon. I do not dance, but my elderly friend insisted on showing this to me. It was actually quite amazing. I've never seen anything quite like it before. Dear L.C. This song,like many of your others, brings such a flood of emotion to my soul. I am grateful to you for the joy it brings each time I hear it. Tears stream down my face, a hollow pain in my throat & memories of loves bittersweet bite rush through me. I treasure this song. When I see people try to define your music, to say what it means, I feel so lucky because I don't need to figure it out. Just to feel it gives a connection with .. what ever it is that is life. ...and so it goes.

These are great videos of Monica Zetterlund and Bill Evans. Wasn't too familiar with either until recently, makes me think of Jazz Alley in Seattle. Used to go there in the late 80's. They may have torn the place down since then? No longer live in Seattle. Sure wish there were a jazz place here in Bellingham. Thanks...

Monica zetterlund and Bill Evans made a fantastic jazz LP together called 'waltz for debby'. It's one of the most inspired jazz records ever made. This clip is good, but it's just a rehearsal, the album version is even better. I love Mrs Zetterlund and Mr Evans!

I just downloaded 'Bill Evans_The Complete Fantasy Recordings_09_01_Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz Interview' off Emusic (about 53 minutes for the cost of 1 track! - cool). What a really nice guy! Really generous and easy going. Obviously an amazing talent. Maybe the best there's ever been (at least in jazz). Wish drugs hadn't got him. And boy could he find bass players!

Reply to coldfleshcolony: Coming from someone who grew up with Metallicas music among others. I respect the musicianship of the members of Metallica. But let's not fool our selfs - the musical sophistication required to perform something like this is way beyond Ulrich and the guys. Just listen how Monica catches up on Bills syncopation around 3:40 and changes her phrasing. It's subtle - it's perfect.

Well,I take your point about "the power of her performance" however,that does not negate her weak pronunciation abilities,in my opinion.I've seen this same approach used by many other Japanese singers choosing English as their medium-high on emotion(often out wack with the song)but low on diction.A tempered balance of the two would be optimal.And the odd thing is that it wouldn't be so difficult to improve on just a few phonemes:the[?]initial;[r]medial,final;[l]final. Seems like laziness to me.

Actually, I have to disagree with you about her accent. It is very mild in my opinion. Her small accent does not diminish the power of her performance. I enjoyed her interpretation, irregardless that English is my native language. I think that she could succeed outside Japan because the bottom line is talent and a unique quality that sets you apart -- she has that.

Pretty good voice + heavy katakana accent = chuto-hanpa na kekka, unfortunately. Needs to work on her English pronunciation instead of trying to cut and cover her weak diction This is because she's chosen to use English as the medium for her vocal music. If she was singing in her native language of Japanese,this wouldn't be as big an issue, although her accent would still come into play. Thus, she'll most likely never make it big outside of Japan.
