Really, people just want something to fuss about. So, should women's clubs be required to include men into the membership so as to not discriminate? There are plenty of other internet communities to join, why not pick one that goes with your preferences?

So now that eHarmony was forced to proved a match making service for homosexuals. Does this mean gay dating sites should be forced to create heterosexual dating service.
By: ammcgarvey. on 25 Dec 08, 23:33:13
So a law is a law, but Don't except the public to not feel pissed off about it, when they see crap like this. It's how America has always been.
By: ammcgarvey. on 25 Dec 08, 23:32:00
False advertisement. They claimed to provide it for everyone. That's like a group promoting love between white people only saying "And we will match ANYONE up with their soul mate". And they're not targetting a specific group of people Because They give options like -Race preference -Religious Preference [Including atheists] -Hair preference -Build preference They give nearly every opportunity for every group of everyone EXCEPT for one group... The homosexuals.
By: marykitsu239. on 25 Dec 08, 08:11:00
...I think its discrimination for one reason and one reason only. They say "Everyone" Love and a match for everyone, don't homosexual people count as everyone? I mean seriously, they're not being mean by like screaming it out or something...but its still discrimination. Plane and Simple. -Naru Kitsu

eHarmony, a private company, chooses to provide match-making to heterosexual people. The notion that anybody's "rights" are being violated is just plain stupid. Should a vegetarian restaurant be asked to serve meat or a kosher deli be expected to offer bacon? Some people really need to learn the difference between private vs. public entities. Don't like eHarmony's policy? That's fine; you don't have to use their service.
By: ademska. on 19 Dec 08, 05:09:20
Oh yeah, cause that's exactly what happened when we allowed interracial marriage! Look up "slippery slope" and "red herring" logical fallacies.
By: elgavilan2000. on 18 Dec 08, 07:05:05
And to the people that are gonna say that e-harmony "discriminates" against gay people: They decided to design their service so that it caters to a specific group of people (heterosexuals). By the logic of those who scream discrimination, every gay matchmaking/dating/community/etc site discriminates against heterosexuals unless it goes out of its way to cater equally to heterosexuals. E-Harmony never outright said it bans gays from its service, it stated that they dont do same sex matchmaking.
By: elgavilan2000. on 18 Dec 08, 06:59:19
Intolerance is forcing your beliefs on a company that should be free do conduct business the way it wants to. If E-Harmony wants to disallow gay matchmaking, it should be within its rights to do so. It's called a free market. If these two million people that have been "rejected by e-harmony" have a problem with that, then they can take their business to another company and let that company profit instead. Vote with your dollars.

It is, it is called fascism. The very thing certain people of one political persuasion have been accusing people of another political persuasion for years of, they are now practicing. Ironic isnt it?

This teacher was way off, and useded her subjective feelings and put them in the classroom. As Educators, we are supposed to be "objective" and keep our personal feelings to ourselves. As a teacher and christian, I MUST keep my personal feelings OUT of the classroom, and that goes for a wide range of issues. What I think is wrong, is SINGLING out a certain "type" of person, instead of teaching good old fashioned respect for "everyone." Singling out a group of ppl is WRONG.
By: 3angelsfromheaven. on 05 Dec 08, 20:54:03
You are right on some accounts. I dont deny that. But the problem is, this will cause it to "spill" into the mainstream education. And it already has, ie: wedding in SF where a teacher married her partner, and a school funded buss and trip took the children, five year olds, to the wedding on school time. That was not needed. Or, how about a teacher in Hayward who gave out "gay pledge" cards to five and six year olds which said, You can see it here.watch?v=HvcuWIi0sDw
By: xdegenerate18. on 05 Dec 08, 18:02:37
But I totally respect other people's beliefs. But when it comes to my constitutional right to marry, I don't see where religion comes in to play. It's suppose to be separation of church and state. So I just want my right to marry, I don't see how it affects you in any way. You still have the right to refuse me if I want to have a wedding in your church. I don't care about having a church wedding if I'm not welcome there. I just want to have the right to be married, don't much care where.

Heres a GREAT explaination of what tolerance really is. But heres the kicker, you gotta be opened minded? If you can't, you wont wanna watch it!watch?v=KY2XTb4Nvgs
By: 3angelsfromheaven. on 04 Dec 08, 22:16:28
Actually, you are the one that is complaining. What I find totally hypocritical, is that gays are very INTOLERANT of others beliefs just because they are NOT their own. Wow....how funny is that? I am native american, and I am of the nature: Live and Let live. But if you want something and you plan to take away others beliefs, thats just plain hypocritical, and INTOLERANT. The problem is, no one understands the TRUE meaning of Tolerance anymore.
By: xdegenerate18. on 04 Dec 08, 18:49:11
+ Considering that being gay doesn't allow equal rights as everyone else, they should be able to fight for the rights at least. Anyone knows that being Gay isn't a race, but it doesn't make it any less of a struggle living in a world with INTOLERANT people like yourself. What I hate is people saying that the sanctity of marriage will be ruined by homosexuals, when its already been ruined by divorce. So ban that and shut up complaining about the gays.
By: xdegenerate18. on 04 Dec 08, 18:39:08
Okay lets go with that McDonalds example. What if McDonalds was founded by a Christian man, should they have the right not to serve homosexuals? No, of course not. And when this man made eHarmony, an online service that anyone can join, religious or not, they lost the right to pick and choose who could join their website, so long as it met certain qualifications, like age. So gays have the right to join this website considering athiests and people of other religion can.

Haha.. God also thinks that eating shellfish is a sin. But I'm sure you've had seafood in your lifetime. While we're at it, spread the word that god thinks its okay for fathers to sell their daughters as slaves. God forbid a man could love another man. Enjoy your shrimp you crazy religious nut and stop picking and choosing.
