Alright cmon. Im setting some records straight. 1. The car is real, it was on Daily Planet. 2. It is the only one of its kind. You cant buy one, and even if you could, you couldnt afford it. 3. The vehicle has no top while underwater because the bouyancy would prevent the car from submerging. (Thats not to say you can't have a top while your topside.) 4. I would sell my left testicle for this wonderous vehicle.

Personally, I think this is taking boat-mobiles to a different extreme. But you never really know, it might catch on. But it gives you something else to worry about asides running low on gas; low air in tanks D:. Ouch... And for those not sure, it's a base off the Lotus Elise (I thought it was an Elise upon seeing first the car); Rinspeed is a Swiss manufacturer similar to that of Japan's Tommy Kaira or USA's Saleen. They're all basically tuners, but they do make their own line of vehicles.

you are correct about the sale price being 100,000.00, however you must consider that What Tesla has built is a bunch of hand made custom sports cars, where as GM is planing a production car. I think that would easily explain the difference in cost. I also agree w/ you on the Unions, each empl. prob cost over 100.00 per hr., but when you factor it all in, says to me POOR management, after all they are directly responsible for all of the decisions that created their present circumstances.

Tesla did build the vehicle you speak of--but the sale price is expected to exceed $100,000. And the fact is that the Volt, when used with 4 gallons of gas(or Ethanol) gets a 200+ mile range. Let's face the facts that GM's employee cost averages $70 per worker vs Toyota's $40 per worker. The problem is not with management but overpaid union workers. I think they should bankrupt to reorganize, but note their tech advances in the meantime.

I don't think that this car was meant to "save" GM. But it does show that not only Toyota and Honda have the key to the next generation of technology. Only 3 years ago Honda said that plugins were at least 10 years out and that they would not pursue this technology. Now they say 2-3 years. A little healthy competition will benefit us all.

You people all need to quit your bitching. Seriously. It's not the BEST solution, but I give GM kudos (i'm an import guy) for trying. You keep your complaining and how much of an incentive do you think automakers have to design better (fully electric) cars in the future? The platform makes sense because it extends its range with a small gasoline engine. The car is still driven via electric motors. This allows them to bypass the issues with current battery technologies, including the cost issue.

I agree.But art and design are different.This has a purpose.Design always goes way beyond feaseability, it's meant to incite progress, test new ideas and give a glimpse of the future.However this doesn't mean that this technology wont be used in the future(perhaps even near future).I was just saying that,like most concepts, we wont be seeing anything like this on the streets anytime soon, specially something this bold. It's true that art still played a major role in this concept

This is purely the result of the kind of exercises design houses do to stimulate creativity and draw attention to the company. It's all very nice and stuff, but come on - now I can't go to the theatre and next day to the mountains in my 3 series? LOL This whole justification thing in marketing is for morons. X3 - pointless. X5 - nice (big). X1 - why not, just a bit higher 1 series. Its a matter of looks and nothing else. I really like the new 3 series after the latest facelift - before the facelift it was kinda not good enough. Cannot wait for the 5 series overhaul.

I think it looks ok but looks like the same size as the X3. The X3 is smaller than the X5 so I was thinking this would be smaller than the X3. Maybe the roof line is smaller? Also, from the side view, it looks like the bonnet is a bit long. Or is that just my point of view?
