Kicking above the surface of water tends to occur if your recovery takes too much time so legs have to wait somewhere. As kobac mentions, over rotation is one of reasons for slow recovery. I recommend to use Tempo Trainer to solve the problem. Try to use 1.4 sec per stroke and reduce the tempo by 0.02 to find your best tempo.

Well you can see my first video in video responses, and you'll notice the same problem i had and which you have. My opinion is that the problem is in over rotation, so I guess when you breathe, you're over rotating. you should try breathing with one google in water and you should stay flat on the water. Kick comes just after your hand enters the water and not at the same time. that'll give you better balance for forecoming stroke and it directs you forward.

Thanks, Shinji. Is there any drill I could do to help me master this breathing skills with head submerged and one goggle in water? It is just against our natural instinct to breathe with one goggle submerged. Withe one eye in the water, your brain would think your mouth is still under water. Nicely done! Your slow recovery used to cause your legs wait above the surface of the water, but now your kick is completely done underwater. If you accelerate to extend your hand once they enter the water, your stroke length will be dramatically improved.

Thanks Shinji! I will try it. I hope to get my endurance up for non stop swimming while maintaining good form. I used to be a runner but tore my ACL so I picked up swimming and realize this is a much better workout. The TI system certainly made it more enjoyable. Im so glad I discovered it, or else I would be flailing around like most swimmers I see. Its even made me somewhat of a swimming "snob" when I see others with improper technique. Never thought I would be like that.

Great job! At that pace of improvement, within a month, your stroke count will be -5? I swim 52-56 minutes every day and the total length is about 2500-3000m, depending on menus. If you can swim 25m with only 15 strokes, I recommend you to include longer sets such as 10x50, 5x100, 5x200 or 5 minutes swim x 5. The reason I can breathe with my head submerged is I create "bow wave" and it makes the surface of the water lower. The depth of the wave is relative to the submerged area and speed. If you submerge your head and you get enough acceleration before rolling your head, you can get enough space to breathe. I do not intend to do "Popeye" mouth, but my video looks I do it.

Hello Shinji. Great video. I will agree with everyone that your awesome technique is an inspiration and great learning tool. I just started TI two weeks ago. Cut my 25 m from 25 strokes to 15. Im doing about 50-60 min of 2x25 with brief rests in between. Also mix in some 4x25. My question is how long on average will it take to swim not stop for that amount of time? Thanks for your input, vinoa. Of course, one major problem of complex systems is their tendency to crash sooner or later, and economies definitely qualify as complex systems. So far, no "school" or economics has managed to change this reality--how would the "Austrian school" do it? What do they know that no one else does?

Fiat currency is not good, but atleast you can adjust the money suply to what's actually happening in the economy, and fight inflation and unemployment (1987!).
