Why so many negative comments? It was a simple opinion... I didn't follow figure skating yet when Yagudin still skated, but I really like him from the clips on Youtube I've seen! But of course it's completely different to follow a skater throughout the most of his career... You've seen his ups and downs and you really feel 'connected' in a way, and obviously I can't really have that with Yagudin.

All the world immediately after the program yelled "he is the gld winner" unlike NBC commentors: I mean, Dick Button started to yell "you are watching at the winner", the Canadian keot repeating how fantastic he was, the German commentors "the gold belongs only to him", the French commentors "good techinical performance from Plush but on the level of choreography, emotion and dance you can't compare the two". Sorry to say it, but the score he got doesn't seem to low to me. The landing alone is AT LEAST a two tenth deduction, if we call that a medium sized step and assume no deduction for the movement of his right foot (I can see a judge going either way on that) Add to that a slight though clearly visible foot separation as he releases for his piked Tkatchev, and we have him down at a 9.7. I would have taken 3 tenths for the dismount, which would put him around a 9.6. Still awesome, though.

he won in all around athens 2004 and yeah the korean gymnast yang tae-young should have won, he pointed to the judges that they made a deduction mistake and they agreed wit hhim but it was too late to change the score, supporters of hamm say that the korean should've been deducted more points but i didn't see any actual proof that i know of about this.

Athens Olympics and even the Sydney bones were a poor show specially wrt Gymnastics , People booing in the arena cannot be wrong And I needn't compare Hamm's routine with Nemov .Latter had a more difficult routine and that difficulty has to be accounted for during the dismount else even I can jump straight from the bar and land without any stumble

Partly reason to do change the code of points to open scoring. And though many were against it at first I think it was a good decision to do this but it still needs to be finetuned. Now gymnasts put as many difficult skills as possible into one routine and you create Johnson routines full of big tricks without artistry. Hopefuly this will be solved in the new code.

As much as I love his performance, the judges had the score right the first time. Unfortunately for him, under the old scoring code it doesn't matter how much diffoculty you do above the 10.0. He had a .2 step on the dismount, and that knocked him out of the competition. It was a FANTASTIC routine, but under the code of points it was correct not to medal.

I agree - I was there and booed and it was, and still is, one of my favourite olympic memories. What I loved was that it had nothing to do with nationality - everyone there knew that Nemov's routine was amazing and he'd been robbed - we were all booing and laughing and looking around at each other and smiling in disbelief. Plus I couldn't believe that we made the judges change their scores. Like Swoooze, I'd love to hear an English commentary.

Dang that was a hoot. It reminded me when Stars on Ice was in Pittsburgh during the 90's, and Kristi Yamaguchi was giving a treat to a make-a-wish kid with the help of Jaromir Jagr. Kristi was showing the kid and Jaromir basic skating moves and she ended up making Yags do a spiral. He had his leg back perfectly straight and parallel to his waist, making his butt stick up in the air. I was dying of laughter and drooling at the same time.
