Also, I presumed you knew this, maybe you didn't, but PG-13 didn't exist then. It was just G, PG, R and then perma-ban X, which made baby angels cry. It was when PG rated Gremlins shoved a dude in a microwave, and that guy got his heart ripped out in Temple of Doom and scared the bajezus out of 9 year olds everywhere that PG-13 was created, giving us the most lucrative of the cautionary ratings. you are totally wrong. Allen Daviau and Spielberg convinced Hoffman to shoot on 35mm. Hoffmann wanted 16mm becausse his FX company had just bought a machine which could convert 16mm to 35mm. The person he met at Universal was not Hoffmann but Chuck Silvers who was the head of library at universal. Chuck Silvers and his associate Julie Raymond gave Spielberg an unpaid Clerical job, and they put him in touch with hoffmann.

Like when they're around the campfire about they about to get their F***K on, how its portrayed as so innocently, they're quite scared of what they both want and need to do, but it has to be done. Amazing post! It's so great to see so much of Gilliam's animation together, and not chopped up in to little bits. It's amazing how good the quality of the film is, Gilliam's animations in Python actually look slightly less polished and have more dust and damage to the film than the first segment of this does. It makes a bit of sense though. The other Pythons recall that Gilliam worked in a mad frenzy til the last minute on Python. He may have had more time to work here...

What was she supposed to do? Run, jump, and roll on the floor. Or add a bunch of unnecessary runs and ad-libs where they don't need to be? Aretha has always pretty much sung this song straight down the middle adding just a touch of melisma. She just sang this with a little less fire than usual thats all. It has nothing to do with a white audience. Have you heard her "Live at Fillmore West" album? The audience there was pretty much white also, and she turned them inside out!!

Let me correct myself. I know Janis' story. As I previously stated, Janis' parents worried about her a lot, and loved her very much. Janis didn't say many nice things about her family while she was out in the public eye, either. You weren't there either. I am going by the numerous letters Janis wrote home to her family, plus the book written by her sister. Laura Joplin, Janis' sister, even went with Janis to her high school reunion. So yeah, her family did love her.

Listen to the melody as a jazz listener, and you hear a beautiful melody that could be to a standard, given the proper accompaniment and chords beneath. Instead Frisell flips it on its head, and employs a groove background for his melody.
