This group was whacked. The singers, Lindsey Buckingham, Chirstine McVie and Stevie Nicks always seemed angry. But that's what made them unique from the other classic rock groups. They were able to adapt when they weren't setting the trends themselves. They're weird but one of the best ever.

You're right on both counts. I despise hip/hop and rap music and I forgot about "Call on Me" as the lead single. In any case, "So Excited" tanked. You can't deny that. I talked to a number of people who also hate that squawking noise. Plus, the song was critically panned for Dupri's self-indulgent instrumental excesses, over Janet's voice, on this song.

This song should be quite relevant today. Ironically the album "Low budget" brought Kinks commercial success after a few not so successful albums; which were nevertheless great efforts. But I think Kinks benefited from the punk vogue. "You really got me" is a kind punk aboriginal.

What really pisses me off they're putting rap bands into the Hall of Shame but not the Moody. Blues, Steppenwolf or Grand Funk Railroad. I hope a meteor hits that place.

I used to love this song and video when it first came out!!! One of my favorite Bow Wow Wow songs!!! Annabella was cute. So sad about the guitarists death. Glad to see that she is still performing here and there. I remember thinking that when I first saw them in the late 70's, it was strange to see a young Burmese girl front an english band. It worked. Malcolm McClaren actually knew what he was doing when he put them together. I always liked their sound. Desperate and moody. I love that!

Look up the tabs though - the chord progressions for Fantastic Voyage and Boys Keep Swinging are the same, and apparently he had a third song planned. I'm guessing he didn't do it because it would have ended up like M.O.R. and sounded too much like either one song or the other. It's still cool. It's certainly a lot more active than Boys Keep Swinging. At least they didn't do the thing where all the musicians switched instrument. I do miss the awesome bass tab from Boys when I hear this.

They didn't decide to continue the experiment - it was entirely unintentional. This is evidenced by the fact that the first release of the song didn't credit Bowie and Eno, and only when the similarity was pointed out did they include it. Also, Robin was always lead guitar player and replaced Slash. Buckethead replaced Robin when he left to tour with Nine Inch Nails in 99, but then he came back and the band had two leads. Paul Tobias was the rhythm guitar since 1995, when Slash was still there. He left the band in 2002 because he was only there to help Axl writing and didn't like touring, so Richard Fortus came in. The Doghouse was an institution serving lousy food for years. I kind of miss it. Last time I was there was NY Eve about '92 or '93. This is some of my favoite AL! stuff ! I have completed the first of what I think will be 4 or 5 DVD's of my personal favorite Almost Live! skits. These will contain all of the series of Billy Quan, Lame List, High Five'n White Guys, AL Training Films, Bill Nye, Speed Walker, Middle Management Suck-ups, Nature Walk with Chuck, DJ Randy Scott, Worst Girlfriend in the World, Cops and many others non series skits from my 250 shows. These DVD's will run about 4 hours & 15 minutes each.

The yuppies ruined Seattle and took away it's personality and sense of humor. It's just become a Corporate McCity with a Mayor McCheese (Greg Nickels). They will keep tearing down every bit of Old Seattle until it's gone. Dick's and the Monorail are probably next. Let's hope Portland does not endure the same fate. Not too badly anyway!

I know--Seattle was so much cooler when I was growing up. Now so much of it has gone so...GENERIC. A lot of the little quirky things that made it really Seattle are gone, and there's a level of pretention that didn't exist twelve, thirteen years ago. :(

Hilarious! I miss watching 'Almost Live' on Sunday evenings. Ross Shafer was great on there too before is bailed and moved to Hollywood. Loved the 'Ballard Vice' skits with Shafer and John Keister. Somewhere on tape I have Shafer's 'Farewell' show. Thnx for the post!

I'm so glad there's another COPS in Seattle on Youtube. COPS is one of their best skits. I wanna watch the one in Kent. It's funny that most people in Ballard don't even know about it's Scandinavian history. Now it's all trendy and full of hipsters. Haven't seen this since Comedy Central stopped airing it back around '94. Glad to see it still holds up. The flying feet thing is still as funny to me as when I was 12. Is this still shown in Seattle? I know Joel McHale was on this but never seen him when CC aired it.

Almost Live! is one of my all time favorite TV shows. I never get tired of their funny skits about the Seattle area. I have heard that they never will release these shows on to DVD. I'm glad that I did manage to get over 240 of these shows recorded to DVD. I will just have to be satisfied with these for now.
