ah fanboys..."heaven forbid my precious indie band have mainstream influences!" come on guys. i expected a little more maturity and open-mindedness out of MBV fans. Melodically speaking the intro is a little reminiscent of the "With or W/O You" intro, albeit in a different key and tempo. not to mention the edge was one of the first mainstream guitarists to really push that delayed guitar sound into the sonic consciousness.

I find it very interesting how an artist as thoughtful and eclectic as she can open the doors to appreciate other unique sounds such as my bloody valentine. I showed wuthering heights to my cousin a few days ago and he didn't appreciate how well her lyrics reflected the obsessiveness of her character.

I agree actually. But Kurt Cobain admitted himself, if it wasn't for The Pixies Nirvana would've never came to be. Kurt Cobain listened to all these guys. A lot of the orginators of Grunge or Alternative music didn't reap the benefits that followed in the early 90's since many of them disbanded shortly before. Either way; Nirvana, Pixies, and My Bloody Valentine are all great mind numbing music.

When this came out in single form I was a mere student and only the cheapest of wines in my local Kwiksave were stopped up with a screw-top lid. Things have moved on since then, many semi-decent wines have a screw top lid and plastic 'corks' have put themselves everywhere. What a blissful noise!

speaking as a musician, it's impressive that they're so tight musically with such a loud volume. Oh yeah, if you want a long version of this song live, check for it on soulseek. Some people have boots where the noise section is 4 times as long as the rest of the song

Yeah, it is. I can get my tones really close. Open tunings, distortion, panning/tremolo, and reverb is all you need, maybe a compressor, and you just give it the detuning texture with the tremolo bar. I'm on the hunt for my own shoegaze tone/sound right now.
