King of the Cage I think is still around, that is the one that Dan Severn was in, not WEC.
By: B44501xRacerEX. on 24 Nov 08, 19:25:29
I have seen pride fighting championship before, it's been a while though. But I do watch that other MMA show WEC Wreckcage on that VS channel, and I got to see a former WCW wrestler Tank Abbot get his ass beat. I was surprized when he got beat that fast. :P I was hoping to see Dan "the beast" severn on WEC but I dont think he does MMA anymore.
By: TSlay1974. on 24 Nov 08, 07:54:25
its still around as of now I beleave but it looks like they are going to be gone soon as the ratings in Japan have not been what K-1 wanted.

i love mma but its a shame it has so much more buzz than wrestling
By: bjvsgsp. on 22 Nov 08, 09:52:16
well he does have a look to be marketable with the whole fangs thing but i feel that pro boxing is too risky for his mma career his chin is suspect i mean tim sylvia knocked him out with a jab imagine what a klitschko would do
By: TSlay1974. on 22 Nov 08, 06:18:53
I am not sure which promoter it is but HBO and Showtime have both been talked about. orginaly he was going to Do an HBO show but that fell through.
By: PumpvIsBack. on 22 Nov 08, 05:26:05
pumpv is back and theres nothing Nerdslayer can do about it!

and to add one more thing anthony mundine's father is tony mundine regarded as one of australias greatest boxers ever so i dare not say the first time anthony mundine stepped in a boxing gym was when he was 25 years old
By: bjvsgsp. on 22 Nov 08, 00:18:42
just did a bit more research of anthony mundine and his reseme is certainly not impressive he is the example of a fighter who has been matched up with the easiest options available over the hill average fighters like ellis and guys who are barely average boxers, and undersized guys like mcleod just got access to a old forum and apparently he isnt very popular his record is great but his opponents are seriously lacking in qaulity
By: bjvsgsp. on 22 Nov 08, 00:07:30
i judged arlovskis boxing ability on a video on youtube of him sparring
By: bjvsgsp. on 22 Nov 08, 00:06:52
I have no idea about mundines career nor of his background apart from he was rugby league player or something and he lost convincingly to kessler i find nogs boxing to be way overrated for somebody who has trained with the cuban boxing team he doesnt seem all that impressive his brother is far more impressive than he is
By: DanielBamford1986. on 21 Nov 08, 22:14:28
i appreciate that, but you (or anyone for that matter) isn't going to be able to judge Arlovski's boxing ability purely from his mma punching technique. Hence the big nog comparison.
By: bjvsgsp. on 21 Nov 08, 18:20:10
i never said anything about transitioning into mma i was talking about boxing,in a straight up wrestling match koscheck beats gsp but in mma he is outwrestled in a kickboxing fight cro cop beats fedor but in a mma fight fedor is able to weather the strikes and land his
By: DanielBamford1986. on 21 Nov 08, 17:34:17
strict boxing technique doesnt help much in MMA. I learnt that personally the hard way. Fedor's punching technique in MMA works wonders. Probably wouldnt work in boxing, under boxing rules and with boxing gloves. Big nog doesnt punch like a boxer in MMA matches e.g. even though the Cuban olympic boxing team rate him like a God. for what its worth, i dont think pacqiou is from a serious muay thai background. im still awaiting your explanation of Anthony Mundine however.
By: bjvsgsp. on 21 Nov 08, 12:03:34
by the way i tried to find a source of manny pacqiou in muay thai and all i could find was a fairly recent pic of him in muay thai shorts
By: bjvsgsp. on 21 Nov 08, 12:02:52
but arlovski isnt a big enough name to attract numbers and if he isnt very good then what promoter is going to want him?
By: TSlay1974. on 21 Nov 08, 03:51:02
No becouse he studied Muay thai. When he first came up it was talked about then when MMA became more popular that stoped talking about it. Arlovski might suck at boxing but it does not change the fact that he has been offered more to BOX than what UFC is willing to pay him to fight in MMA. It has nothing about how good he is it has to do with what they are willing to pay him. Most of the top HW are not in UFC becouse of PAY. If boxing can pay them more that is where they will go good or not.

I guessing youve never been kicked, elbowed or kneed. Let me put this into perspective for you. The most impactful punch ever recorded is 2400 psi (by Chuck Liddell actually! mike tyson was second with around about 2200 from memory). any day of the week *I* could walk down to the science institute in london and record 2600+ with a roundhouse. Bruce Lee's famous sidekick (measured at 4600psi) is the force of a truck hitting your head at 60mph. Punch = weakest. Useful weapon, but the weakest.
By: bjvsgsp. on 20 Nov 08, 22:52:24
have you watched a k-1 fight? the most important strike in all of combat sports is the punch that is ridiculous to suggest that the punch is the weakest if this was true then when people fight they would be using their feet more often wouldnt they
By: DanielBamford1986. on 20 Nov 08, 22:34:59
Does a kick not strike? Does an knee not strike? Does an elbow not strike? The punch is in fact the weakest of the four main strike groups. But if you're defining a 'strike' as a punch only, then your argument holds. Boxers *are* the best punchers (and often by large margins). But you would find it very difficult to find anyone else to agree with that definition. A strike is a strike.

your videos are great man
By: bjvsgsp. on 20 Nov 08, 20:03:23
how many excellent pro boxers have competed in k-1? a way over the hill mike bernardo? or what about bob sapp? or maybe rampage jackson oh wait there not boxers at all if k-1 strikers were as great strikers as they say they are then they would be pro boxers simple as you make far more money in boxing than you do k-1 truth is none of them have the right techniqe
