You would have a point, however this video is over 2 years old, and thats a long time for an artist to develop, which she has done, and since has exploded - she's on Justin Timberlake's own record label for goodness sake! Additionally, the arrangement she has is probably just the instrumental version of the original song, as its not exactly easy to find other arrangements, or make your own when your instrument is your voice. She is amazing, and maybe you should check out her other newer stuff.

I am all in favor of covers that reinterpret the original. Trust me, I love to see that. But there has to be a point to the reinterpretation. In this case there isn't. She's using the original arrangement, which calls for understatement. And listen to the lyrics, about how the person in the song is "resting my bones" and just sitting watching the water roll in and then back out. Singing those words, over this arrangement, in an cheerful, uptempo dancey style simply doesn't work.
