This has to be seen in context. When this was made around 35 years ago, it was very different and funny for its time. Since then, Monty Python, Steve Martin, Saturday Night Live, Andy Kaufmann, Sam Kinison, Jim Carry Etc... have taken comedy to another level altogether. Ha ha ha. I think they absolutely hit the nail on the head with this one. Nobody irritates better than parents (I can imagine the mum sulking for days). To be honest though, I can't really sympathise too much with the victims. I look at having to put up with this kind of thing as a just punishment or payment for freeloading off your parents when you should have left home a long time ago... And if they are just guests there, at least they won't have to put up with it for too long.
