For those of you who are confused, having your period is a very real barrier to female education in rural Africa. If pads and tampons do exist in these villages they are extremely inaffordable. Instead of disposable hygiene products they often use rags or newspapers but have no washrooms at school in which to change and dispose of what they're using, as there is no proper garbage disposal method in place.
