Honestly does it really matter what the world thinks of us, what our reputation is? I suppose all that really matters is who we are, rather than who people think we are. Also it'd be difficult to call us facist, if we're a multi-party democracy. Another thing would be that our reputation comes from the current people that live and govern america. I like to think of a country on how its system is setup rather than who are governing it that day.

Hmmmm. Not easy to answer. Up Around The Bend, Suspicious Minds & River Deep all run close. If pushed would say U've Lost That Loving Feeling mainly cos techically it was so far ahead of its time & Spector - like John Fogerty was a genuius. Proud Mary has surpassed the test of time. The camera work is also to be commended. That rickety-looking platform they're own provides a lot of objects to make use of foreground space in all those smooth crane/jib shots. And the the way each band member is positioned on that thing. All in all - excellent broadcast and performance. Very simple to the eye, but clearly the work of masters.

This sounds so identical to the recorded version. I know that a lot of live appearance on TV shows in the 60's & 70's were actually the performers lyp-syncing to their own voices, it was just easier for the broadcasters to do it that way. Does anyone know if that's the case here? If not, it's really remarkable how much it sounds like the 45/LP (now CD) recorded version.

Thanks, yeah, I know what punk is. I said it's like punk before punk, meaning it's ahead of its time. It's the only song of this era, even among protest songs, that has this kind of righteous, class conscious, anti-establishment attack about it. Country tinged rock wasn't popular among the punks I knew in the eighties, but you could have played this at one of the clubs no problem. In fact, I first heard it in a punk record shop in NYC.
